The Church House,

Great Smith Street,

London, S.4.1.

9th September, 1948.

Dam Sir Patrick,

May I introduce myself as Mayle's successor in charge of Hong Kong affairs at the Colonial Office? I note from your letter to Mayle of the 4th January that you then hoped that maps and documents being sent to you for use in writing your Hong Kong report had arrived in London.

I know, of course, how extremely busy you are, but I should be most grateful if you could give me some idea when your report will be ready for the Hong Kong Government. The reason I ask is so that I can pass the information on to the Governor. liong Kong are,

Hong Kong are, of course, holding up their urban development plans until your report can be taken into consideration, and they have asked us once or twice whether we have any information as to when your report is likely to be ready.

you

J.Bhak
